The A.L.L. is the anterior longitudinal ligiment.  Think of it as a big piece of duct tape that runs the length of your spine and holds the front of it together.   This ligament is important because it can be injured in severe rear end accidents.   When torn, it can cause a front disc herniation or just a lot of sloppy motion of that spinal segment.
